Abstract: This work presents a study about cardiopath women’s resilience while facing the disease. Pointed as the main cause of death in the world, cardiovascular disease has become a study and research object regarding health and life quality of individuals within the social scope. This monograph’s intention is to comprehend the resilience process of the cardiopath woman coping with the disease. The method applied was a case study with four women, all of them from the Paraiba Valley. Three approaches were used to collect data: half structured interviews, the Wagnild and Young resilience scale Perim et al, 2015) and The Thematic Drawing-and-Story Procedure. A qualitative analysis has been made with the collected data. Results indicate half of the participants interviewed show high resilience capacity, whereas the other half is within the average regarding the same capacity. In addition, the family tends to represent the biggest support system to the woman. It became noticeable that the women experiencing family conflicts have a bigger tendency of being vulnerable to risk factors and less likely to protection factors, hence a negative symbolic perception of the disease, affecting their resilience capacity. It follows with the resilience importance in the cardiopathy’s context and it is expected that the knowledge built may contribute to subsidize intervention proposals with patients and their relatives.
