This work has the aim to understand how public schools teachers from Recife City represent the family. Our motivation came from verifying that the family’s configuration has had very deep changes. As we know the school is a place where we can find family’s models. In this way seven public schools from downtown Recife were selected for the research. The instrument used was the Drawing-of-Family-and-Story Procedure. The results are: 1) 76% of the teachers represented the family with both parents and children (nuclear family); 2) the relatives show love to each other; 3) The parents have very specific responsibilities like traditional familial configuration (father as the center of the family). To conclude, when most of the teachers represent a family as a traditional and nuclear family, they pass a concept of wrong and right, and erase all the different family’s configurations that may exist.
