By focusing the moment in which Psychology students grasp experience of holding their first clinical interviews, one devised an investigative-interventive strategy, based on the use of the Thematic Drawing-and-Story Procedure, by means of which such students individually made drawings and told stories about “a student in his first psychoanalytical experience with a child”. The set of work done was psychoanalytically analyzed aiming at grasping the unconscious psychological fields, according to which the collective imaginary is organized. We found the fields of “the ideal patient”, “the expert therapist”, the possibility of rejection”, and “the meeting of one with the other“ which ended by supporting a collective imaginary about their first clinical interviews, characterized by feelings of unpreparedness and emotional uneasiness, what makes us think of supervision as a space which should integrate theoretical knowledge with the function of holding.
